Who decides what hospital an ambulance goes to in an emergency situation?
Question:
I called for an ambulance and said I wanted to go to Loyola hospital because my doctors are there and they took me to Westlake. Why?
Answer:
The ambulance has to transport all patients to the closest hospital; the only time this can be changed is if the closest hospital diverts the ambulance to another hospital through doctors orders.
