Why is there an odor near the water reclamation plant? What can be done about bad odors at the plant?
Answer:
Occasionally unpleasant odors are emitted during normal operations of the water reclamation plant. This is an unavoidable situation, often exacerbated by hot, humid weather conditions. The Public Works offices are located on the treatment plant grounds, so if there is an odor problem during normal business hours, we are aware of the situation. If a strong odor is noted during off hours, please report the problem by calling the Police Department's non-emergency number at (847) 526-2421 and a Public Works' representative will be contacted.
